Concert tour 2019
Canada
The annual concert trip, took the boys’ choir to Canada during the Whitsun vacations. After an eight-hour flight from Frankfurt to Toronto, the young singers visited Niagara Falls and started their concerts on the second day in Toronto. They continued on to the small town of Belleville. There they were very warmly welcomed and thanked with two successful concerts. Here the choir boys were invited by the mayor and on this occasion they sang “All around me is joy” all the way to Canada. Afterwards they went to the famous sand dunes at Lake Ontario in bright sunshine. The next stop was one of Canada’s former capitals, Kingston. Here, too, the choir was able to convince with two successful concerts in St. George’s Cathedral. The planned picnic at Lake Ontario was moved indoors due to rain. Improvisation is everything. The journey continued to Montreal, Quebec City and the capital Ottawa. Everywhere the St. Martin’s choir boys were warmly welcomed by host families. In between the concerts there was enough time to visit the area and some metropolises as well as to gain impressions and experiences of this North American country during city tours. After these twelve exhausting but very interesting concert days with nine performances, the choir boys recovered for five exciting leisure days at Lac Cayamant, one and a half hours north of Ottawa. We had a lot of fun together with soccer, basketball, swimming and kayaking. Of course, cross-country games, night hikes, campfires, playing games together, singing, cooking and much more were all part of the recreational program, and it showed again what a great community 66 boys between the ages of 8 and 28 can form. With unforgettable memories in our luggage, we arrived safely back in Biberach after 19 days and were happy to see our families and friends again.
